11/13/2023 - Week 17 - Very Boring Week
Not much happened this week... like at all.
Tuesday to Friday we did nothing but go out and try and find friends all day. Not any notable experiences finding, no interesting people we met. Kinda disappointing. We did have interviews with President and we met as a district for the first time this transfer. Again, nothing crazy happened then other than we had to pick up and take home the Cincinnati Elders (with a small detour to get lunch at Moe's).
Saturday and Sunday were the two bright spots of the week. On Saturday, as a Stake, we had a community day of service. That means for 6 hours we were doing service... and it was awesome! All of the missionaries in our zone were there (aka a lot of missionaries) and we did various service projects. Where I spent the majority of my day was at the Garden of Hope (not Pikmin), a replica of the Garden Tomb of Jesus Christ built by a small local church. This church was too small to upkeep the Garden so we went in there and cleaned the place up and created a new walking path through the *very* overgrown and dense Garden. It was super fun to serve this small church and to do it with a ton of my missionary friends! (Side note: our Stake President made it very clear we needed to be on our best behavior because this small church originally shut down their clean-up project when they heard that we were coming to help. So they don't like us too much. We don't know why)
On Sunday I had to give a quick talk during Sacrament meeting and I talked about Families and how the family relationship we have is so important in our lives and how we need to be the example to others in our families of how the Gospel blesses our lives.
We also met with three families from the ward which is awesome! Bro Roach gave us shoes for free from his collection which was awesome! We also met with the Carpenter's (not the singers) who fed us an awesome dinner, and the Hernandez's. They're all super cool families and were super nice!
Spiritual thought:
The example we set for our families and the values that we place importance on are crucial to the development of a healthy and loving family relationship. I'd like to encourage all of you to read or re-read The Family: A Proclaimation to the World and look at what principles it says a family should be centered on and then look within yourself and see what you can do to help foster that within your family right now and how you can best be an example of that to your (future) family.
Hasta la vista,
Elder Hansen
