12/23/2024 - Week 75 - Group life baby
What's up y'all?
This week was pretty weird but here we are.
I got transfer news on Tuesday that I'd be starting a Spanish group in Western Hills (where the mission office is) with Elder Wilwand (so we would be whitewashing-ish because the area hasn't existed for the last 2 years and it wasn't alive for long back then).I naturally spent my last few days in Miami River getting everything set up for the Baptism for Eva on Sunday (aka yesterday) and we had two member meals my last day so I was super stuffed on some good tacos and baleadas!
We went to transfers and found out we will also be the Mission's Technology Specialists so we have a lot more responsibilities with that (luckily not very hard responsibilities though).
We've been spending the last few days just trying to figure out where all the Latinos are at here in our area and how to start a group. It's been a real learning experience, but we've been able to have some limited success and we even had 2 friends come to church yesterday!
Tender Mercies:
- got free arroz con Leche from an old couple I helped move some stuff for
- got a free Guatamalan shirt from a guy we're teaching who is mad chill
- met some members from the English Ward who speak native Spanish! They're also gonna have us over for dinner cuz they're cool like that!
- We have a ton of meals set up with the English ward members and we ate dinner with one of our senior couples from Idaho (with the APs too)!
- EVA WAS BAPTIZED!!!!!!!!!
Spiritual Thought:
I just want to us this space to bear testimony of the greatest meaning behind Christmas, the birth of Christ! We owe everything we have to His life and Atonement, and I know that He is always there to help us in the tough times of trials as well as the times where everything is working our alright! Keep the Lord in your vision and you will have success!
-hasta luego, tengan Feliz Navidad!
Parker
