1/3/2025 - Week 80 - Ohio is Bipolar
This last week and a half has been a wild one for sure.
Basically last time I emailed you we were having sub-0° days pretty much every day and now it's supposed to get up to 60° today (and somehow we still have snow on the ground? It doesn't make sense)
Since I'm covering a ton of days in this email, I'm gonna break it down into one short section for each day
Tuesday: basically nobody wanted to talk to us. But we did have french dip with the APs and President and Sister Rasmussen at the mission home which was quite nice!
Wednesday: we had our district council and went to Raising Canes afterwards which is always good! We had our 1st lesson with our friend Pedro who talks a ton. We had dinner with the Richards and I found out a lot of their family is part of the Miami River Branch I was just in! We had a few people come to English Class, but not a ton sadly. We had two more lessons which were pretty good but we found out one of our friends who is progressing needs to get married.
Thursday: we finally had the great SIM card switch and our members daughter had her surgery which luckily went well and she's recovering
Friday: We weekly planned and had dinner with our bishop and his wife!
Saturday: the Cinci Elders gave the girl who just had surgery a blessing and we taught their other kids while they were at home. We had a difficult lesson with some of our friends where they were listening to what we were saying but clearly didn't understand, no matter how simply we taught it.
Sunday: we had 4 friends at church (including 2 16 year olds we didn't know were not adults). A ton of people told us that they slept in so we could've had more... Yet again we had dinner with the APs, but this time with the Evansons, who are super cool. We ended the day with a mission devotional about the Kirtland temple and Patriarchal Blessings, it was an interesting combo but it was good
Monday: We found out every Latino is afraid of ICE and aparently we (the missionaries) look exactly like them... so nobody will answer the door for us and won't risk leaving their houses
Tuesday: District Council and Interviews with President went well and we had a crazy big lesson where we taught a friend 17 principles (of the ~55 principles we teach) it was chaos
Wednesday: we helped some of our Senior Missionaries in the office to do some heavy lifting to prepare to move in some new apartments. We also had 3 friends at English Class which was 3 more than I expected. We ended with a lesson with Albeiro and Bro Wilson, and Bro Wilson took us to get Panda Express after which was very appreciated
Thursday: nothing happened, our one Latina member moved so we have nobody now ☹️
That is basically everything that has happened to me in the last week or so. We just went to the Indianapolis Temple today so I left my mission borders for the first time since getting here about a year and a half ago. I saw my friend Colin's cousin and his mom at the temple! I didn't even know they lived there. What a coincidence to be there at the same day and time. He just got home from his mission.
Spiritual Thought:
During our devotional, the speaker invited us to read D&C:109 &110 about the dedication of the Kirtland temple, and I love all of the blessings promised in the dedicatory prayer so I extend the same invitation to all of you to read those two chapters and look for the specific blessings you can find in the temple!
Adios
