10/30/2023 - Week 15 - 100 bad days makes 100 good stories

Well Guys and Gals, it's been over 100 days since I was set apart as a Missionary! Kinda crazy right?

This last week was one of the more memorable ones I've had to date. We had exchanges with the Lakeside Park 2 Elders on Tuesday and Wednesday and it was pretty much just a party the whole time. We had a good time teaching and finding. At one point on the exchanges we got yelled at by the ZL's for using our workout time in the morning to workout? I'm still not sure why that all happened but we were pretty mad that they did that. Other than that we had our district lunch at El Nopal and got some awesome fajitas! The day quickly fell downhill after that because we had 5 lessons scheduled after lunch and all 5 of them fell through. 😥 But that's how missionary work goes sometimes so I guess I can't complain.

On Thursday a Member from Elder Carr's ward in Spokane came to Cinci to drop off some stuff from Elder Carr's mom (Grandma Sycamore's bread included) and then he took us to SKYLINE CHILI! Now skyline is a Cincinnati based (and really only Cincinnati) Chili restaurant chain. They serve Cincinnati style chili (which isn't chili) and it is made with cinnamon and chocolate in the sauce and no beans. Very different from normal people chili. But I had that for the first time this week. It's honestly not bad and not good. I definitely won't be craving it ever, but as long as I told myself it's not Chili, it was pretty good to eat. Solid 6 or 7/10.

We also had dinner with the Shlenskers, an older couple in our ward, and Bro Shlensker told us about how he was converted to the Church through Church ball. So the moral of the story is to make a stacked Church ball team, you might help someone find the Gospel that way.

We also had an awesome turnout for our Chili Cook Off and Trunk or Treat! Elder Carr made Banana Sheet Cake and I made Cornbread for the Chili Cook-Off and both were a huge hit! It was an awesome time to see all the ward together having a good time!

We had our Primary Program this Sunday and it was awesome, even with the small number of youth we have out here. After the Primary Program Bishop lead our second hour discussion and I really liked what we talked about. The focus of our lesson was that there are no coincidences in our lives. There are many things that we see as coincidences, but in reality all we have is God's plan for us in our lives. I really liked this thought because there are so many people I have met, just like you all, my friends and family, that I didn't just happen to run into. All of the relationships I've made in my life aren't the result of pure coincidence, they are the result of God's hand in my life. So my invitation to you all is to try and think of things that have happened in your life as part of God's wonderful plan for you (I promise it makes the hard times easier and the good times even better).

Sincerely,
Elder Hansen
