11/6/2023 - Week 16 - Bye, Bye Ohio
This last week felt like it took forever. Just a brief recap of the week:
I went to the oldest (public) bowling alley in the country and promptly bowled the worst 2 games I've bowled in a while. 😬
For Halloween I took Elder Carr to Texas Roadhouse because he hadn't been before. We also had to be inside all night for Halloween so the mission had a giant jeopardy and Kahoot game night that was riddled with tech issues (very fun time).
We had a birthday party for José, the newest member of the Cincinnati Ward (Spanish group) and we had some awesome food! We also got transfer news and I found out that I was leaving Cincinnati and moving to the area directly south of it, Lakeside Park, which is still in my old district so I've been there on exchanges twice before.
The next day we had a lesson with a couple of our friends, Quinton and Maurey, and we told them that I'd be leaving the area the next day. For the rest of that day I pretty much packed things up and got ready for transfers the next day.
Transfers were super fun, it's awesome to see a lot of the missionary friends I've made already and talk with them for a while. Me and my new comp Elder Avery set out for Lakeside Park, cleaned up the apartment, and unpacked.
The next day there was a baptism in the ward for Rebecca, who the other Lakeside Park Elders had been teaching, so we were able to join them for that and it was an awesome experience! I love to see people make covenants with God!
We also met Elder Dahlke's parents (Elder Dahlke was a Zone Leader for the YSA in Cinci so I knew him pretty well) who attended our ward's Sacrament meeting this week and they told us that they got sealed to Elder Dahlke and his Brother for time and Eternity!
It was poetic to see Rebecca make her first covenant with God on Saturday and to just happen to see Elder Dahlke's family who got sealed together in the Temple as another one of those covenants we make with God that brings us closer to Him.
Not too much else happened with this week. The work for me here in Kentucky has had a very slow start.
Til next week,
Elder Hansen
