12/2/2024 - Week 72 - This Thanksgiving season I'm thankful for... Bashers?

Oh, wait🤚. No I'm not 😡

This week was pretty chill (and pretty dang cold). We had a lot of lessons scheduled with our friends and pretty much all of the lessons canceled so that was less than ideal... but we powered through and had some on-the-fly lessons throughout the week. 

Unfortunately we had to take our friends off date that were on date for Baptism because they just weren't taking the time to meet with us and weren't coming to church... very sad, but we'll find more people to help towards baptism and maybe they'll come back soon.

THANKSGIVING:
- after some very unclear and vague instructions from our AP's we basically decided what we were gonna do for Thanksgiving, which consisted of service (for a store and some members), playing games, and having Thanksgiving Dinner with a family in our branch! The ham they made was potentially the best I've ever had (sorry Mom)
- we also got bashed by the family's drunk brother in law at the very end so we just bounced and called it good.
- we ate a lot of pie, like way too much pie

Other fun things
- took my Comp to the doctors so he could get his meds and be a functional human again, but they equivocar-ed (messed up) and got him the wrong prescription so we are gonna try and get the correct prescription today!
- got bashed for 40 minutes in a Thrift store 
- saw two 7ft tall dudes in the same Thrift store 
- I finally took Elder Harmon to Goodfellas so I've almost done everything I need to as a trainer (food-wise, we still have work in other areas)
- we tried Yerba Mate from Argentina and.... it's bad, like reaaaaly bad (0/10, putting actual dirt and grass in a cup with water would taste better)

We ended up having 3 friends come to church and one of them told us he'd be down for Baptism once he's got a testimony!

What is Elder Hansen thankful for right now?
- My family (of course)
- All of you guys (if you read this far, jkjk)
- The Gospel 
- The 8 more months I'll have as a missionary!

Good morning Brothers and Sisters, it feels good to see all of you one last time before I head out on my mission. I’d like to start today by sharing some of the insights I have had while doing the online portion of my MTC training. My companion for all of my MTC training is Elder Sainsbury who just graduated from Rocky Mountain this year and someone I deeply respect. I am extremely grateful for the fact that my companion is someone I know at least a little bit and can get along with easily. I am also grateful for all that he has taught me so far during our time together in the MTC. My MTC district has also been a huge blessing to me. 10/9/2023 - Week 12 - Carr vs. Car

Whats up y'all? This week's been a roller coaster of just crazy cool and crazy weird things happening. I'll start with the title story, which isn't that funny, but it made for the best title in my opinion. So, it's no secret that Elder Carr is an adrenaline junkie and when we go down this one big hill back to our apartment, he loves to just go as fast as he can down the road. Unfortunately, on Saturday night this week when we were about halfway down the hill (going very fast for bikes) a car decided to turn left right as Elder Carr was going through the intersection (we had the right of way) and Elder Carr trying to not get hit smoothly drifted his bike for about .3 seconds until he flew over his handlebars right in front of the car turning left. Luckily, the car stopped in time so he wasn't run over, but he did rip his pants. So technically the Carr v car fight night ended in a draw, but luckily no one was hurt too bad. 7/15/2024 - Week 52 - Transfers + Baleada = Great Week

Wowza, so much stuff happened this week. I'm still gonna try to keep this email pretty brief so you don't have to take a nap halfway through it. This week we had a ton of member meals with members from a lot of different countries so we got to try a ton of different kinds of foods! Some of the best was some Guatemalan spaghetti and fried chicken (with tortillas of course), some amazing tacos from the familia Escobedo (plus cake and they sang me happy birthday because I had a birthday since they fed us last? I'm still not too sure what that's about but they're amazing), some world famous Nicaragüense BALEADA with the familia Amador, and lastly some Chicken Noodle Soup with our new member Yenni and her family! It was awesome to see the dedication and sacrifice these families will make to show their love for the missionaries! We also had transfers this week so I kind of got transfered to another area, but its more like the two sets of missionaries in this area got comb...
