2/12/2024 - Week 30 - Weird week. IDK how else to say about it.

This week was wild, but nothing really happened. It felt like an eternity.

We had a really good meal with the Sinclairs (some really cool members in our ward). We had Cafe Rio adjacent type food which is amazing because I haven't had CaliMex food in about 7 months. They also have a 2 or 3 week old daughter named Scotlynn and they were very shocked when I told them I have a friend named Scotlyn too (shoutout to you Scotlyn).

A lot of time this week was spent trying to reschedule the day after a ride wasn't able to pick us up or something along those lines. We did service at the Farm and the food pantry again this week and it was awesome as usual! We were mucking poop or hauling hay for 2 hours at the farm (which doesn't sound fun) but it was actually a good time!

Interviews and district council was this week as well and we had awesome talks from President and Sister McGuire. Sister McGuire talked about spiritual momentum and how we need to be growing our testimony of Jesus Christ constantly or we will be more easily knocked off course by the adversary (my physics friends will love the inertia visual). President McGuire talked about success. The basic story was about Abinadi and Nephi (son of Helaman). Abinadi was a great prophet, but when you think about his story from his perspective, it is really easy to think he made no impact. Seemingly, he just preached to very wicked people and then he was burned at the stake. He didn't know that Alma was converted before he died, and when you think about the righteousness which Alma was able to restore, its crazy to say then that Abinadi had no impact. In fact, without him, all of that righteousness couldn't have come about. As for Nephi, he himself recognized that he had very little impact on the people he taught and preached to; however, when Jesus personally came to the Americas, Nephi was chosen as the head Apostle because of his great faith in Jesus Christ! Even if the success of your efforts is not noticed now, remain diligent to the things you know to be right, and the success will come about according to the Lord's own timing.

As for random stories from the week very quickly:
We had a few discussions that were way too doctrinally advanced for us
I got my Shamrock Shake from McDonald's
I ate Taco Bell right before a 2 mile bike ride back home (10 minutes til curfew) and I think that challenge may rival the Milk Mile or the Pizza Mile challenge.
We knocked the most dead street in North America. No one was there or even remotely nice about being not interested.
Ate a very, very good burrito with Horchata (100% recommend)

Sorry if this email is super sporadic or if it makes no sense, I didn't have a ton of time to write it and less to proofread it.

Congrats to Ryder and Brady for getting their mission calls!

Adios!
