6/10/2024 - Week 47 - Milagros

This week was pretty bonkers

UPDATE: I still don't speak Spanish that well, but there have been improvements so I will take that as a win right now. (If you have any fire Spanish Study plans, los envíame)

Quick update on what happened this week:
- Had an old friend who had been taught in the past call us on Monday saying he wants to feel the Spirit again, so we came over and were like "Well do you want to feel the Spirit forever? Welp, get baptized and keep your faith" (slight paraphrase) We've been meeting with him almost every day so if he will keep the commitments we've been extending, he'll be baptized soon enough. (Also, we're now teaching his brother too!)
- We had 2 member meals in one day and it was absolutely amazing! The Taylors took us out to the fanciest Taqueria I've ever seen and just poured out wisdom on us (They used to be Mission Leaders in Mexico and are just awesome people!) The Diaz family had us over and we chatted it up and had a great time with them and we had potentially the greatest homemade Sopes ever. One of the other Elders ended up arm-wrestling Hermano Diaz (who is in his 70's) it was a wild time.
- We had out District/Zone Council (pretty much everyone in the Spanish Zone is in our district right now, so its a big meeting) in Western Hills and got some donuts!
- We have been teaching an awesome guy named Angel and his mom, Altagracia (for our non-spanish viewers, that pretty much translates to highest/higher grace) and she is hilarious. They both love the Lord, so thats always good! Angel is really progressing though and most of the members in the Branch thought he was a member when he came the first time!
- We stopped by a fiesta we saw while driving because we saw meat on the grill and coca-cola and Sprite (so we thought "Sweet! A latino fiesta with no alcohol!" Famous last words) We did stop by and they gave us some tacos, but they did, in fact, have a massive case of Modelos we couldn't see so half of them were completely slammed and the other half were getting there. Two of the guys were sober enough for us to actually trust their word that they want to learn more about the gospel. So we got them the info, took a quick picture, and got outta there cuz they were getting rowdy.
(White Cowboy hat dude was super chill)
- We had 3 new member lessons this week and all 3 of them are absolute legends! Ervin, Gabriel, and Pedro all shared how the Gospel and their baptism has changed their entire lives and have been super willing to help us out in lessons! They're dawgs!
- We had 3 friends at church! It was fire!
- We also found a super cool new friend last night where his brother was there and was trying to take over the lesson, but our guy Yimison could tell what we were saying is true!

Anyways, that's about all I got this week.
I forgot to put my apartment number in the last email, but were in

Spiritual Thought:

Foreordained to Serve By Elder Steven R. Bangerter:
"Before you were born, God appointed each of you to fulfill specific missions during your mortal life upon the earth. If you remain worthy, the blessings of that pre-mortal decree will enable you to have all kinds of opportunities in this life, including opportunities to serve in the Church and to participate in the most important work happening on the earth today: the gathering of Israel".

I know that each and every one of us has a very real purpose here on earth, not only for the benefit of ourselves, or the benefit of ourselves and a few others, but we each have the potential to truly change people's lives for the better. We can help someone in the lowest of lows to find true and lasting peace. We have the Gospel of Jesus Christ and out Testimonies at our disposal, if we share them, we will be able to bless everyone around us, no matter if you are a called missionary right now or not!

Love you all!
-Parker
