6/3/2024 - Week 46 - Happy Birthday! Now you're a Spanish Elder!
¡Hola a todos!
Well, this week was pretty wild.
To start off, today is my Birthday so that's super cool, I'm finally 19. I also got moved to be a Spanish Elder after 11 months of service in English.
This week we had 5 member meals which is fantastic. Shoutout to the GOATED Tipp City Ward!
The big news is that transfers were this Sunday and I got the Special Assignment to switch languages and start learning Spanish to assist the Spanish Zone in the Miami River Branch! My companion is Elder Kirkham and he's been out for 9 months, but he's training me up real good on how to do missionary work in Spanish! It's a crazy learning curve (again) but I'm just going out and doing my best! (If you are a Spanish speaking missionary right now/were a Spanish speaking missionary, let me know what helped you most to learn the language for missionary work!).
We have already been seeing miracles here in MR2 (Miami River 2 Area) and the Latino Community is so amazing! They're so humble and kind! We stopped by a referral yesterday and they let us inside and gave us Jarritos and Oreos as we shared a message (it was fun). I still don't understand most of what the Dominican's say, but I'm slowly getting down the dialects. There are a lot of Guatemalans y Dominicanos here in Fairfield so huge shoutout to Elders Hess and Gardiner and my cousin Alexa for all the great work they have done and continue to do in those areas!
I'm doing all good here and I'd love to hear a message from all of you! I'll try to respond to as many as I can this week!
Adios!
Elder Parker Hansen
P.S. We had a member meal where they showed us their Hawaiian Pidgin copy of the New Testament and it's hilarious. (see photos)
Also my new address is:
5109 Pleasant Ave, Fairfield, OH 45014
Love y'all
