9/2/2024 - Week 59 - I'm really running out of content here
Welp, I'm still here. Transfer 3 in Miami River (3rd companion). Not much changes in the weeks here, but I do have some stuff to share:
Some of the Highlights -
• we had exchanges with my old companion, Elder Kirkham, and his greenie, Elder Martinez (they are interested same exact area as me right now) and since neither my companion nor Elder Martinez can drive, I was with the greenie all day (thats not normally how we do exchanges) with our combined knowledge of Spanish, we didn't do too badly.
Fun experiences from exchanges: had a very weird contact with a referral who was American with a latino last name (surprisingly doesn't happen too often) and Elder Martinez went in full confidence, but there were some social cues missed so I was scrambling but we got it all good in the end (Satan's plan in the pre-mortal life may have been taught for some reason but we're all good!) We also had dinner with our Stake President and it was very good to finally get to know them a little bit more
• We had dinner with Pascual and his daughter and he taught us some Mum (a Guatemalan Dialect) and we had chuchitos (pretty much Guatemalan Tamales)
•We got invited to and joined in on a Carne Asada (latino version of a Barbecue) and it was very good!
•We has 2 days over 100° and I was cookin
•10 people came to English Class and all of them spoke Spanish so we were actually able to help them! (Also a good chunk of them are people we're teaching so that's always good!
•4 of our friends came to church on Sunday!
Everything other than that is the normal stuff we do every week. Finding, teaching, and trying to baptize!
Spiritual Thought:
This is more of just an invitation, but a spiritual one
-Read the Isaiah Chapters of the Book of Mormon and/or the Book of Isaiah in the Old Testament
You may be thinking, "Parker, those chapters are hard to understand" and you would be correct. But it is very important to note that Isaiah is the Prophet that Jesus quotes the most throughout His ministry (I'm pretty sure Paul and Peter quote him a lot too, but I'm not as sure if he's the prophet they quoted the most) as well as there is a good reason why the Isaiah chapters exist in the Book of Mormon as well as the Bible.
A good study help would be the Institute Student Manuels on the Old Testament and Book of Mormon that covers those chapters!
Buena suerte a todos!
-Elder Hansen
